The String of Bananas (Senecio radicans) is a fast-growing, easy-care trailing succulent with curved, banana-shaped leaves. This playful and unique plant is perfect for hanging baskets, where its long vines can spill over the edges, creating a lush, cascading effect. Its glossy green leaves are not only attractive but also drought-tolerant, making it ideal for indoor or outdoor succulent gardens.

String of Bananas Care Tips:

1. Light:

Prefers bright, indirect light. It thrives in sunny windows, but can also tolerate some direct sunlight. If grown outdoors, place it in a location with partial shade to protect it from harsh afternoon sun.

2. Soil:

Use a well-draining cactus or succulent mix. Avoid using peat moss, as it holds too much moisture, which can cause root rot. Adding perlite or coarse sand to regular potting soil can improve drainage.

3. Watering:

Water thoroughly, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings. During the growing season (spring and summer), water more frequently, but in fall and winter, reduce watering as the plant enters a dormant phase.

4. Humidity:

Tolerates average indoor humidity levels, but as a succulent, it prefers drier conditions. No need for extra humidity measures.

5. Temperature:

Thrives in temperatures between 65-80°F (18-27°C). Keep away from cold drafts and avoid temperatures below 50°F (10°C), as the plant is not frost-tolerant.

6. Fertilization:

Feed with a diluted, balanced succulent or cactus fertilizer once a month during the growing season. Do not fertilize during the winter months when growth slows.

7. Pruning:

Prune to control the length of the vines or to encourage fuller growth. Regular pruning can also promote new growth and maintain the plant's shape.

8. Propagation:

Easily propagated from stem cuttings. Simply cut a few inches of the vine, remove the lower leaves, and allow the cutting to callous for a day or two before placing it in well-draining soil. Roots should develop in a few weeks.
